Why do some people’s tiles fall off soon after decorating their new houses? This is especially true for bathroom tiles, because they were not done properly when laying the tiles.
Remember the following tips to ensure that your bathroom tiles are durable and strong!
Basic roughening
Before pasting the bathroom wall tiles, you must first roughen the base layer. This is to increase the adhesion of the wall and prevent the tiles from becoming unstable after being pasted. Do not underestimate this step. This step is very important for the tiles. Preventing shedding plays a vital role.
Wall tiles soaked in water
It should be noted that the base layer should be fully watered and moist before laying tiles. Otherwise, the moisture in the mortar will be quickly absorbed by the dry base layer and tiles and condense quickly. This will affect its bonding fastness, and it will easily occur later. If the tiles fall off, it is very necessary to soak the wall tiles in water and water the base layer.
Clean the substrate
If there are decorations such as lime plaster, latex paint, wallpaper, etc. on the wall, or there is dirt on the ground, they must be cleaned up, otherwise the cement mortar and the base layer will not be firmly bonded. In addition, if there are cracks in the wall itself, they need to be treated before tiles can be laid to avoid the cracks becoming larger in the future and causing the wall tiles to crack or fall off.
Bounce line
Before laying ceramic tiles, you need to find the vertical line in advance. Only based on this will the tiles laid out will be uniform in height and vertical and beautiful. In addition, before construction, elevation control lines need to be popped up around the wall and cross lines should be popped up on the ground for convenience. Control tile separation size.
Prepaved
First of all, based on the drawing design requirements, the color, texture, surface smoothness, etc. of the tiles should be strictly selected, and then pre-paved according to the drawing requirements. Any errors in size, color, texture, etc. that may occur during pre-paving should be adjusted and exchanged until the best effect is achieved, and then the paving can be smoothly stacked for later use.
Paving
When laying ceramic tiles, 1:3 dry hard cement mortar should be used, and the thickness of the mortar should be controlled at about 20mm. Before laying, it is advisable to keep the back of the tile moist and the front dry. Place the tiles on the cement mortar as required, and tap the tile surface with a rubber mallet until it is dense and smooth. Bricklayers generally apply the mortar very evenly to prevent hollowing of the tiles.
Pointing
Clean the joints 24 hours after the tiles are laid. Before jointing, the impurities in the gaps of the tiles should be wiped clean, and then the joints should be jointed with a special caulking agent.
